It’s “Sol”, not “Sal”. And it’s not a run club either – not really. Around here, we run when we need to. First drop soon.

Before you ask.

Way before Strava, Salford had its own idea of what it meant to run.

The streets of Ordsall and nearby districts were home to the Scuttlers. They got their name from the way they moved – scuttling through back alleys with flat caps pulled low, slipping into the shadows and vanishing into the canal mist. They weren’t running to prove anything. They ran because life sometimes gave them reason to.

Salford never quite let go of that instinct.

If you get it, you get it. You don’t need the postcode.

Some are born here. Some end up here. Others are just drawn to the place – its history, its culture, its attitude. Fair enough.

No. Not unless you’ve got reason to.

Salford Run Club takes its name from that instinct, not the sport. No one’s keeping tabs on your route or time. That’s sort of the point.
